Angela Learoyd creates textured and formed silver jewellery with interesting and unusual semi-precious gemstones. The combination of these elements gives her work its signature design aesthetic.

Sourcing the most interesting stones to work with, Angela particularly favours Jaspers and Agates; stones cut in unusual shapes, with matt finishes.

'I often start with the stone itself and this informs my design process. Experimenting with textures on silver allows me to echo the markings of the stone. My favourite texturing techniques are hammering and roll printing.

I use silver sheet, tube and wire to form my shapes. Some of the metalsmithing techniques I use are doming, swaging and press forming. They allow me to produce three dimensional, sculptural shapes.'
