Fiona Macleod
A ceramics graduate of Glasgow School of Art, Fiona MacLeod is essentially a craftswoman. Skilled in many crafts she has worked in various fields; fibre arts, printmaking, bookbinding, sculpture and most recently she has picked up her brushes and has returned to painting.
She absolutely sees painting as a craft activity where handskills, materials and ideas come together. Colour, texture and composition are key elements in all Fiona's work, and are the main focus of her recent landscapes. Whether the sweeping vistas of Fife farmland in Spring, the douce countryside around Lake Trasimeno in Summer, or the drama that a covering of snow brings to any landscape, it is the patchwork of colour and the effect of different weather conditions that grabs her attention.
